Food Challenge #2

For my second food challenge I chose to do the GM cleanse as it seemed very appealing to me. I know I haven’t been eating well, and it is reflected in how I’ve been feeling. I have not been feeling well and it seems this cleanse will do a good job in getting me back to a healthy.

Day One All fruits except bananas. Your first day will consist of all the fruits you want. It is strongly suggested that you consume lots of melons the first day. Especially watermelon and a loupe. If you limit your fruit consumption to melons, your chances of losing three lbs. on first day are very good.

Day Two All vegetables. You are encouraged to eat until you are stuffed with all the raw or cooked vegetables of your choice. There is no limit on the amount or type. For your complex carbohydrate, you will start day two with a large baked potato for breakfast. You may top the potato with one pat of butter.

Day Three A mixture of fruits and vegetables of your choice. Any amount, any quantity. No bananas yet. No potatoes today.

Day Four Bananas and milk. Today you will eat as many as eight bananas and drink three glasses of milk. This will be combined with the special soup which may be eaten in limited quantities.

As you can see the GM cleanse is basically fruits and veggies. It was hard to become full during this cleanse, but I must say it did do wonders. I feel a lot better this week than I have in a long time. Although I will probably go back to my old eating habits (as it is so hard to fill up on just fruits and vegetables) I will keep this cleanse in mind for future references. It might be something I start doing occasionally as it really did work.

Food Challenge #1

Being part of group A led me to do one of the food challenges for this week. The food challenge I picked was food challenge #3, which allows us to find cereals that don’t have sugar as one of their first three ingredients, and ones that do. From this we will then determine the price difference, and why there is a price difference. I chose to use my experience from this past week to help me complete this challenge. On Friday, I went to Pathmark to grab a couple things. While inside I grabbed a circular, where I flipped to the cereals. In this section I found two completely different cereals in which one had sugar and the other didn’t. These cereals were 28 oz. Quaker natural cereals oat and honey, or raisin, and the other cereals being Post Cereals, more specifically Fruity Pebbles, at about 12 oz. The price of the Quaker cereals was $3.49 a box, and the Post cereals as $2.49 each. When calculated per ounce, Quaker cereals is actually the better deal. The reason for this in my opinion is the lack of sugar itself. It leads people away from those kind of cereals, as all people want nowadays is something sweet.
